JBI Evidence Synthesis - Streamlined Submissions Process

Streamlining the submission process for authors

Reducing wasted effort

To reduce time waste for authors, JBI Evidence Synthesis has launched a streamlined submissions process.

This initiative aims to address a significant pain point for researchers, clinicians and others who seek to publish with JBI Evidence Synthesis: the time-consuming task of formatting manuscripts for submission.

Research suggests that between 2022 and 2030, approximately US$2.5 billion could be lost due to time spent on manuscript formatting. With an average of 14 hours dedicated to reformatting a single manuscript, and rejection rates reaching up to 80% in top journals, the potential for wasted effort is substantial.

Under the new streamlined submissions process, authors are no longer required to fully format their reviews or protocols for initial submission. This includes relaxed requirements for referencing style, language preferences, section ordering, and word count limits.

However, authors must still adhere to submission guidelines which include adherence to JBI methodology, PRISMA reporting guidelines, registering the review in PROSPERO, OSF etc and ethical standards for scholarly publication.

The journal will request full formatting only when acceptance is highly likely, typically at the ‘minor revision’ stage. This approach aims to balance author convenience with the journal's need for consistency and quality.

“This initiative represents JBI Evidence Synthesis's commitment to respecting authors' time and fostering a preferred platform for research dissemination”, said Mara Lambert, Managing Editor.

Researchers and clinicians interested in submitting to JBI Evidence Synthesis can now take advantage of this streamlined submissions process. For any queries, please contact [email protected].

JBI Evidence Synthesis is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes rigorous evidence syntheses relevant to a range of healthcare contexts and health conditions. It is the premier channel for diverse systematic reviews that move beyond effectiveness. See submission guidelines
