Building a stronger global evidence ecosystem together
JBI, Campbell Collaboration and Cochrane’s call to action
We are delighted to announce the co-publication of an editorial titled "Unlocking the Power of Global Collaboration: Building a Stronger Evidence Ecosystem Together," co-authored by Prof Zoe Jordan, Dr. Vivian Welch, and Dr Karla Soares-Weiser, of JBI, The Campbell Collaboration, and Cochrane, respectively. The editorial will be simultaneously published on 16 April in three journals: JBI Evidence Synthesis, Campbell Systematic Reviews, and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews.
This collaborative endeavour reflects the shared commitment of the three organisations to foster cooperation, aiming to enhance both health outcomes and policy efficacy worldwide.
Global Collaborative Evidence Networks like JBI, Cochrane and Campbell play a vital role in the global evidence ecosystem, bringing together researchers, policymakers and practitioners to collaboratively generate, synthesise, and disseminate the best evidence to address complex societal challenges. However, they are not currently coordinated for best impact.
The editorial highlights the urgent need for coordinated efforts to mobilise evidence effectively, advocating for a paradigm shift towards interagency collaboration to tackle contemporary global challenges.
"As we navigate the complexities of our ever-changing global landscape, fostering collaboration is not just an option; it's imperative. Together, we have the power to unlock transformative solutions and build a stronger evidence ecosystem for better health outcomes and a brighter future." - Prof Zoe Jordan, Executive Director, JBI
This commitment is further highlighted by the delivery of the second Global Evidence Summit, where global leaders in evidence-based approaches, including JBI, Cochrane, Campbell and Guidelines International Network (GIN), will convene to share knowledge- serving as a crucial platform for collaboration to address global challenges in health, education, social justice, and the environment.
Scheduled for September 2024, the Global Evidence Summit represents a unique opportunity for professionals across various sectors to engage in discussions about evidence production, synthesis, translation, implementation, and use, informing policy and practice.

“JBI is excited to collaborate with global partners to create an event that encourages delegates to explore and challenge global trends around the science and practice of evidence-based decision-making. The GES programme brings together people from diverse sectors, disciplines and geographies to discuss how we can collectively drive the global evidence-based agenda forward.” - Prof Zoe Jordan, Executive Director, JBI
As the editorial advocates for a shift towards enhanced collaboration, the Global Evidence Summit sets the stage for meaningful dialogue and action.
