Standarised systems and approaches to drive EBP
Finding consistency amid complexity
In the latest issue of JBI Evidence Implementation, Co-Editor in Chief, A/Prof Craig Lockwood authors the editorial, Making Implementation Work.
The editorial emphasises the benefits of standardised systems in complex healthcare systems which accommodate patient-centred variations in order to drive evidence-based practice.
The editorial also emphasises the JBI Model of Evidence-Based Healthcare as consistent framework for evidence-based practice across diverse geographical, cultural and clinical contexts.
“Systems-based approaches that standardize EBHC pathways and processes while allowing for individual, patient-centered variation make our health services safer. Without these systems, patient experiences and outcomes would be dramatically lower. High-quality implementation methods share these characteristics of standardized methods and reliability while enabling localized change. How? By providing flexible systems and approaches that enable clinician-led, patient-centered care to drive practice change, whether at the small scale of a single ward or unit, or across multisite organizations.”
The editorial is available in the September issue of JBI Evidence Implementation
