Celebrating Peer Review Week
This week we celebrate Peer Review Week (20th to 24th September), an annual global event celebrating the role of peer review in maintaining scientific quality.
At JBI we rely on the time, expertise and dedication of peer reviewers to help us provide the highest quality evidence-based resources for healthcare globally, which includes The JBI EBP Database and JBI’s journals (JBI Evidence Synthesis and JBI Evidence Implementation).
We are deeply grateful for the dedication of our peer reviewers. We appreciate the time it takes to undertake a thorough peer review, and we value the considered feedback which helps ensure the high quality of JBI’s point-of-care EBP resources and journals.
Editor-in-Chief of JBI Evidence Synthesis, Assoc Prof Edoardo Aromataris, says:
"JBI Evidence Synthesis, like all reputable journals, relies on independent review and critique of submissions by experts who are not a part of our journal’s editorial panel. This is especially important for a multidisciplinary journal such as ours, the scope of which is defined by the methodology and methods used, rather than any specific focus of the topic the piece of work is informing. As an editorial panel, we rely on peer reviewers' insights and expertise to help us determine significance of a submitted work and its validity. The process is not infallible - despite this, it is fundamental to reinforce the validity and acceptability of scientific research…and the majority of authors genuinely appreciate the efforts of the volunteers who review their work!"
The current issue of JBI Evidence Synthesis celebrates Peer Review Week 2021 by recognising two outstanding peer reviewers, Diná Cruz and Deborah Edwards.
Both of these outstanding peer reviewers give their brief thoughts on the theme of this year’s Peer Review Week, "Identity in Peer Review”, and the peer review process.
