A new addition to the JBIC from Central Asia
Strengthening collaboration for better healthcare in Kazakhstan
JBI and the JBI Collaboration welcome our first JBI Collaborating Entity from Central Asia: the Kazakhstan Centre for Evidence-based Nursing: A JBI Affiliated Group.
Kazakhstan is the largest country in Central Asia and the ninth largest in the world. Our new JBIC Entity is located in Karaganda, which is approximately four hours from the capital of Astana and is situated in the heart of the Kazakh Steppe.
The Kazakhstan Centre for Evidence-based Nursing is hosted by the Karaganda Medical University, the leading medical university in Kazakhstan for training, with an excellent reputation in providing educational, scientific, medical and diagnostic services.
Director, Feruza Saduyeva, explains that healthcare in Kazakhstan, particularly with regard to nursing, is currently in the formation and development stage. To address this, Karaganda Medical University has taken on the responsibility of strengthening the collaboration between academic staff and practical healthcare organisations, and advancing evidence-based nursing, thereby enhancing the quality of nursing science in Kazakhstan. Achieving this involves prioritising systematic review methods and evidence implementation in the health care sector, including emergency care, primary healthcare and rehabilitation care. These efforts aim to improve the overall development of healthcare in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Collaboration is at the heart of JBI, and the newest Kazakhstan JBIC Entity will embody this in their plans to include representatives from other medical universities, such as Nazarbayev University, Astana Medical University, South-Kazakhstan Medical Academy and Kazakh National Medical University. By including members from multiple institutions, they will disseminate their growing knowledge of evidence-based healthcare quickly and effectively, a prospect JBI is excited to support.
Feruza explains:
There is a need to strengthen the cooperation of healthcare organisations, both practical and educational, and the importance of this JBI Affiliated Group will be in its contribution to the development of evidence-based practice, not only in the region, but throughout the whole country.
We wish Feruza and her team the best of luck and look forward to watching their passion drive the JBI approach to evidence-based healthcare in Kazakhstan.
