Inaugural Australasia Joanna Briggs Collaboration Regional Symposium
For the first time the Australasia Joanna Briggs Collaboration Regional Symposium in evidence-based healthcare was held.
The symposium focused on contemporary issues in knowledge translation and implementation in evidence-based healthcare, and was held at St George Hospital, Sydney on 28 June.
Professor Ritin Fernandez, Centre for Research in Nursing and Health at St George Hospital and Chair of the Symposium Committee, said that the symposium was organised to showcase evidence-based research by healthcare clinicians and academics with an aim to continue to improve at a local level:
“It has been over 25 years since evidence-based practice began to shift clinical decision making. As such, this approach is not in addition to providing patient care, but inherent in how this care is delivered”, she said.
Healthcare researchers from across all disciplines in the early stages of their career from across Australia to network and learn from experienced practitioners about how to translate their research into practice.
Guest speakers included three experts in evidence generation, knowledge transfer and knowledge implementation from across Australia: Associate Professor Ping Yu, Professor Sandy Middleton and Professor Zoe Jordan.
Professor Jordan, Executive Director of JBI who presented the opening keynote address, said that regional symposia are valued by JBI because they contribute to the success of JBI’s work to promote evidence-based healthcare locally, regionally and internationally:
“JBC regional symposia provide important opportunities for building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to work together strategically to promote and support evidence-informed approaches to the delivery of health policy and practice in their region", Professor Jordan said.
JBI congratulates everyone who was involved and attended the first Australasia Joanna Briggs Collaboration Regional Symposium.
