Building capacity for EBP in Bucharest
The Romanian Centre for Nursing Research
We are absolutely delighted to have the Romanian Centre for Nursing Research: A JBI Affiliated Group as a member of our JBI global family! The timeliness of joining the JBI Collaboration could not be better as the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of a local and global focus on evidence-based healthcare.
Our newest group is based in Bucharest, the country’s cultural and financial centre. Bucharest is situated on the banks of the Dambovita River, has a long and varied history and was once known as the ‘Paris of the East’. Another interesting fact about Bucharest is that 50% of all the midwives and nurses in Romania reside within the capital and this is why, as Director Dr Carmen Mazilu tells us, “It is so important the Group contributes to the large-scale promotion of the JBI Model and methodologies within Bucharest”.
Carmen also informs us that joining JBI means so much because, “In Romania, the clinical practices of nurses and midwives are focused on clinical opinions based on knowledge and experience, which leads to risks for both patients and medical staff.”
Carmen continues: “Our vision is that evidence-based practice becomes central to all health services. Our mission is to be the leader in the effective implementation of evidence and the evaluation of its impact on healthcare practice. Our objectives are to promote evidence-based nursing in Romania, disseminate best practice information, facilitate the effective implementation of evidence and evaluate its impact on health care practice”.
The Group aims to undertake training, consulting, and research activities in systematic review and evidence-based practice which will ultimately benefit patients. Carmen explains:
“With the Group’s activities, nurses will benefit through professional development which will have a positive change in clinical practice and clinical management skills. The main beneficiaries are the patients who will benefit by receiving healthcare according to best practice, which is provided by capable health professionals, who are well trained and involved in the continuous improvement of their services. Providing a positive patient experience is paramount.”
Welcome Carmen and team! We are excited to work alongside you and watch you grow and succeed.
