Aged Care EBP Resources
This month JBI features the Aged Care specialty field in the JBI EBP Database, and highlights free access resources relating to the aged care field.
Evidence-based healthcare is important across all areas of health; however, it is paramount when caring for older adults who are most vulnerable at this time of their lives. The Aged Care field in the JBI EBP Database provides high quality, relevant, up-to-date evidence-based information and recommendations for use by healthcare professionals, working in Aged Care.
As the ageing population grows and family structures change, it is expected that the number of older adults moving to residential care facilities (RCFs) will increase. Many older adults want to age at home, but issues like physical/cognitive decline, loss of family ties, and family inability to care for them, may lead some to move to RCFs.
A JBI Best Practice Information Sheet (BPIS) from the JBI EBP Database summarises the clinically relevant, evidence-based recommendations from the results of the JBI qualitative systematic review, 'Experiences of health care personnel in promoting a sense of home in older adults living in residential care facilities'.
Also included in this month's aged care EBP resources is free access JBI Evidence Summary and JBI Recommended Practice on repositioning and mobilising strategies to prevent pressure injuries in adults, including older adults.
The JBI EBP Database offers 540+ evidence-based resources related to aged care, that cover a wide range of aged care topics, including person-centred care, fall prevention, medication safety and pressure injuries.
