In cardiac arrest patients, what is the utility of using transoesophageal echocardiography during resuscitation?
Population
Adult patients, aged 18 and above, with non-traumatic out of hospital or in hospital cardiac arrest.
Intervention

Transoesophageal echocardiography use during cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
Comparator
Comparator (quantitative - effectiveness)
Comparator Description
Standard resuscitation management.
Outcome
Outcome & Context (comprehensive)
Outcome Description
The primary objectives are whether TOE can identify reversible causes of arrest and evaluate cardiac contractility. Secondary objectives were survival to hospital discharge, use of TOE to optimise quality of chest compression during CPR and harm associated with the use of TOE.
