OBJECTIVE: Investigate radiographic techniques for overweight and obese patients undergoing X-ray examinations acquired on digital systems.
This review will consider studies that include plain radiography examinations performed on digital systems (CR and DR) for overweight or obese patients. Radiographs of both adults or adolescents (living or post-mortem) for musculoskeletal, abdominal and chest examinations, as well as computer simulations and phantom studies will be considered.
Concept: This review will consider studies that explore radiological technique, namely exposure and postprocessing parameters and patient positioning. Studies assessing different dosimetric quantities will be included, as well as those regarding image quality criteria.
This review will consider studies that were carried out in emergency or standard radiological departments worlwide, in public or private practice.
